Boston Harbor Islands ATBI

From 2004-2009, Brian and postdoc Jessica Rykken spearheaded an All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) of the Boston Harbor Islands National Park, supported by a grant from the Stone Foundation. The project focused on the "microwilderness" of the islands, namely, insects and other invertebrates. This extremely diverse group of animals is easily sampled, yet often overlooked. The overarching goal was to combine scientific research with public education, and to foster an appreciation for the amazing biological diversity that exists within Boston Harbor.

Most of the specimens were identified, digitized, and accessioned into the Museum of Comparative Zoology (MCZ).
