 *Graduate student through May 2023*

 My broad interests include systematics, phylogeny, and evolution of stag beetles (Coleoptera: Lucanidae). Previously I have worked on a taxonomic review of the Korean lucanids with the description of one new species and unveiling cryptic diversity in the *Dorcus velutinus* species group (Coleoptera: Lucanidae) through an integrative taxonomic approach (oral presentation at the International Congress of Entomology 2012).

 I am currently working on the phylogeny of world stag beetles using multiple gene sequences, with special focus on the origin of Darwin’s beetle (*Chiasognathus grantii* Stephens, 1831). *Chiasognathus grantii* belongs to the tribe Chiasognathini, which shows a Gondwanan distribution and has diversified mainly in South America. By dating a phylogeny of world stag beetles, I am hoping to compare the divergence time between the South American and Australian groups of these potential Gondwanan relicts with various paleogeographic events that led to the separation of the Australian and South American continents from the rest of Gondwanaland.
