Larva of Neadelphus protae (holotype) in amber

Ricardo recently traveled to Germany to hand-carry a returning loan of 383 specimens, 40 of which were type specimens. What makes such a seemingly mundane task so intriguing? This pre-WWII loan was from the Königsberg Amber Collection, much of which was lost during the war.

The Harvard Gazette has highlighted this unexpected result of our NSF TCN “Fossil Insect Collaborative: A Deep-Time Approach to Studying Diversification and Response to Environmental Change.” [Read their article here](http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2017/07/baltic-amber-specimens-to-be-returned-to-konigsberg-collection/).
