We are pleased to announce that Prof. Farrell is now the Director of DRCLAS! As noted in the Harvard Gazette, "[he] has had long involvement with the center. He served on its executive committee for the last eight years and has received grants for faculty research in the region....Farrell was himself a Fulbright scholar at Santo Domingo in 2011-2012. Back in Cambridge, he regularly hosts students and postdoctoral fellows from South America."

Collaborating on NSF Award, led by former lab member Duane McKenna

We are pleased to announce that the Farrell Lab is part of an NSF award to study the phylogeny and diversification of Curculionidae (true weevils). Led by Duane McKenna of the University of Memphis, "This project will reconstruct the family tree of Curculionidae and establish a timeframe for weevil diversification by analyzing genomic and morphological (anatomical) data....This project will clarify the interrelationships of all major groups of weevils for the first time. The resulting family trees will be used to test long-standing hypotheses about weevil relationships and evolution, and...

We are excited to welcome Fabio to the lab! He will be with us for his current research project: "Understanding the ancient origins of South American biodiversity: a molecular perspective on the evolution and biogeography of non-biting midges (Diptera: Chironomidae)." 2014 Milton Fund Awards announced

We are pleased to announce that the Farrell Lab has been awarded a William F. Milton Fund award to research the evolution of beetle-plant interactions, using next generation sequencing.

"The Milton Fund supports studies of a medical, geographical, historical, or scientific nature, which must be either in the interests of promoting the physical and material welfare of the human race, or of investigating and determining the value and importance of a discovery or invention."
